The meeting started at 7.40pm with the SAA Chandrasiri De Silva calling the meeting to order. He proceeded with the TM's promise and handed over to the President Lackhmichand, ATMB, ALS. The President welcomed the members and guests who introduced themselves. The guests were Mathew, Patricia and from the KL Advance Toastmasters Club, Ahmad Zakie A. Shariff, CTM. The Toastmasters of the Evening (TME), Aishah Ayub, CC, then continued the meeting introducing the theme of the night, "Destined for Distinction" where members were encouraged to make 2011 the year they pursued their Toastmaster goals.
Role players then explained what they were doing that night. Among the role players were first time Grammarian Indraveni who read out the word of the day, Aspire, Lourdes Chandramohan, DTM counted the speech crutches as the Ah Counter and the Timekeeper was Reuben Raja.
Sham Sunder Lakhiani, ACB gave a thought provoking Invocation. He stated that the strength of the Toastmasters' club is in its members and the action taken by them. Hence we give and receive support from each other.
Vice President of Membership, Wai Leong carried out the induction of our new member Indraveni Kamalanathan.
The table topics session was a tall tale with 5 story tellers Wai Leong, Aishah, Reuben, Lourdes and the best table topic speaker, Ahmad Zakie. The tale included elements of running around in a towel, Lucky, flying, fighting with a sword and getting hugging lessons from Rema Paul.
Muhendaran Suppiah, DTM, evaluated the table topic speakers and recommended another session of tall tales.
Breaktime took about 10 minutes when the meeting was called to order by the SAA.
Nalini Vijaya, who will be back at New Zealand on 13 Feb 2011 to continue her studies, gave her CC #2 Organise your speech 'Did God create everything?". Her speech was evaluated by Ranjani Visvanathan, ACB.
The next speaker will be appearing on Astro channel 201 in April, Shobha Janardanan, did her CC #8 Get comfortable with visual aids speech on "Your Nutrition Take Charge Today!" Her evaluator was Sham Sunder was also named Best Evaluator.
The final speaker, Ranjit Singh, ACS, CL gave a Specialty speech #2 Uplift the Spirit. He inspired us with his speech on "One Human Race?" and was also named Best Speaker. His evaluator was Rema Paul, DTM.
The general evaluator, Ahmad Zakie then got the role players to give their report and concluded his evaluation highlighting the warm reception he received from the club members.
After the Awards Presentation, the President ended the meeting with promises that those who attend the next meeting on 1 Feb, they will get an Ang Pow!
