President’s Speech

President’s Speech

Bangsar Toastmasters Club Installation

Saturday, July 16, 2011

“There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results”.

That quote applies to many individuals in Bangsar Toastmasters Club. These people are committed to the club – they are there when the club needs them. Doing a little here, a little there but doing what really counts. These are the people who make the club great. They make sure other members have the necessary environment to grow. They support and encourage others and offer assistance whenever it is needed.

I personally believe these people need to be recognized and appreciated. People like these have made me a better person and have helped the club improve continuously.

Voltaire the French philosopher once said: “By appreciation, we make excellence in others our own property”

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.

I would like to appreciate and recognize the unselfish and sincere contribution, efforts and support of the following individuals:

Lucky, ATMB, ALS – The ever present charter member of the club. He is the foundation of the club – he holds the club together with his enthusiasm and commitment to the club

Ranjit, ACS, CL – Always there when the club needs a helping hand, no questions asked. If there is something to be done, Ranjit will get it done.

Chandran, CTM – Steady and committed. He is always there doing his part to keep the club running – always gives it his best.

Sham Sunder, ACB – The quiet supporter. He does things without any noise or fanfare. He makes things happen when it needs to happen.

Thank you all. . Even though you guys seldom get thanked, I am sure everyone appreciates what you do.

Of course we can’t forget the new members who are starting to make the effort to contribute to the club. To all Bangsar Toastmasters Club members, thank you – without you there is no club.

This term I have decided to adopt what I call the 3Fs as our guide in everything we do in the club. The 3Fs are Fulfillment, Fun & Fellowship. The Exco’s main focus this term would be to help members achieve the 3Fs. It is the members who make the 3Fs happen with the Exco being the catalyst.

FULFILLMENT: Members should continuously FULFILL his/her individual goals and the club goals by doing speeches, giving evaluations, taking up roles, bringing in new members and helping other members improve themselves by mentoring and coaching them.

FUN. Members should making club meetings and environment FUN by coming well prepared for speeches, roles and evaluations, helping with club chores like setting up room, etc, participating in club activities and creating an environment of FUN for everyone.

Members should encourage FELLOWSHIP by encouraging members to attend meetings, being genuinely interested in the well-being of the members and offering encouragement and support to others.

The 3Fs are what I believe being a Bangsar Toastmasters Club member is all about. Fulfillment, Fun, Fellowship.

Fulfill the 3Fs and “MAKE IT HAPPEN” for you and the club.

President 2011/2012
