REVIEW OF MEETING HELD ON 19 APRIL 2011 by TME, TM Shobha

REVIEW OF MEETING HELD ON 19 APRIL 2011 by TME, TM Shobha

The meeting started short of five minutes late, but energies ran high
amongst the day's attendees numbering 11. Ten members and Anita (guest
of TM Shobha) filled out the room cozily.

The meeting was quickly called to order by the stand-in ASA, TM Reuben
and handed to the President, ATMB, ALS Lakhmichand for the welcome and
introductions. The theme was "Successful Stories" and the word of the
day was "Thrive". As TME, I, TM Shobha, welcomed our first-time guest,
made the role player introductions and handed over the meeting to the
President who had kindly assumed the TTM role for the evening.

As TTM, the President had table topic volunteers randomly draw lots
from a box which contained sayings / idioms, which they then needed to
speak about, for the usual 2 minute duration. The speakers who took to
the podium were TM Rueben, ACB Ranjani, ACS, CL Ranjit, CTM Eileen and
guest Anita. As the votes were cast for best TT speaker, DTM Lourdes,
the TTE fro the day, shared his feedback on the session.

A ten minute break ensued before we reconvened on time, starting with
TM Indra's 2nd Speech, "A Lot More About Myself" being on the agenda.
Thereafter, TM Reuben gave his 9th Speech, "The Biggest Loser Part 1".
In usual toastmaster fashion, the notes to the speakers were read out
by their respective evaluators (CTM Eileen for TM Indra's speech and
ACB Ranjani for TM Reuben), followed by the GE CTM Chandran's reading
of notes to the evaluators.

After both speeches, the GE took over the meeting and sought the
role-players' reports, starting with the Grammarian's (ACS, CL
Ranjit), the Ah Counter's (ACB Sham Sunder) and last but not least,
the Timekeeper's (TM Indra). He handed back the meeting to the TME who
made note that we were still making good time. The TME then had the
pleasure of requesting the President to announce the TT winner. As
there were only 2 speeches, there was no voting for the best assigned
speech.

Based on the vote count, TT top spot was bagged by two able speakers;
CTM Eileen and guest Anita. In his closing comments, the president
talked about ensuring role players and office bearers went online to
adequately understand their roles in meetings, the value of the theme/
word of the day in any toastmaster meeting. The meeting ended 25
minutes late. There were nonetheless smiles on every face throughout
the evening marking yet another successful Bangsar Toastmasters
Meeting.

NEXT MEETING DATE: 3 May 2011
